Which export documents should the Chinese seller provide, and how do I verify they are authentic?

The standard set: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, export customs declaration, certificate of origin, and a copy of the vehicle title/registration. How to verify: the bill of lading number should be trackable on the shipping line's website; the certificate of origin is verifiable through CCPIT's online system; and the VIN must match across all documents, the inspection report, and the car itself. Ask for scans of everything before paying the balance, and have a freight forwarder review the set. Mismatched VINs, missing title copies, or vague promises that "documents will follow" are red flags worth pausing the deal over.

Is there specific data on paint thickness? How can we determine if it's the original factory paint?

We use a calibrated high-precision paint thickness gauge to take multiple measurements on at least 13 metal surfaces of the entire vehicle. The original paint thickness of mainstream Chinese models typically ranges from 90μm to 150μm. If any area exceeds 200μm or even reaches over 500μm, we will directly conclude that the area has undergone bodywork and filler repair.

Can you convert mainstream left-hand drive (LHD) cars in China to right-hand drive (RHD) and then export them?

We maintain an extremely cautious and firm denial. Some platforms may cater to such demands for orders, but converting left-hand drive to right-hand drive involves complex steering column cutting, firewall structure changes, and wiring harness reorganization. This non-factory deep modification poses significant safety risks and is very difficult to pass vehicle safety inspections in developed countries (such as Japan's earthquake test and the UK's IVA test). Out of responsibility for safety and long-term reputation, we refuse to provide any steering conversion services that damage the vehicle's underlying structure.
